Job description

Part-time Financial Controller wanted in Burnley (4 days a week, onsite). Candidates within a 45 minute radius preferred.

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join a client in the Haulage and Transport industry. This role will work closely, supporting the existing CFO in various projects including streamlining processes, and providing strong commercial guidance. The basics of the finance function are in place, but they require your expertise to refine operations and deliver high-quality group financial reporting including managing multi-company consolidations and inter-company trading.

The role is onsite in Burnley, 4 days a week, with the successful candidate ready to start ASAP.

About You:
You are a qualified and experienced Financial Controller, a background in the Haulage/Transport sector would be nice to have but not required. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving, can communicate financial insights effectively, and are ready to hit the ground running.

Your expertise should include:

  • Management accounts

  • Balance sheet reconciliations

  • Cashflow and profit forecasting

  • Consolidated accounts and group-level reporting

  • Reporting and managing intercompany trading

  • Industry-specific experience in Haulage/Transport nice to have but not required

  • Experienced in multiple accounting packages

  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivots, SUMIFs, graphs, power BI)

  • Some people management experience

  • Implementing robust financial controls

  • Identifying potential areas of risk

  • Manage year end reporting but not statutory accounts preparation

  • Presenting financial and commercial insights to non-finance stakeholders

  • Adaptable, able to work on various projects as required

Details of the Role:

  • Location: Burnley, 4 days a week onsite

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Pay Rate: £35 per hour
