Description

SENIOR COUNSEL, EMPLOYMENT AND LABOR

Join the EIS legal team and have the opportunity to make an immediate contribution to our continuing global growth and success. This is a hands-on position.

You will support our Human Resources function, with a primary focus on helping build and improve global processes and policies and advising on employee relations issues worldwide. We seek a highly motivated and hardworking teammate to take ownership of key projects, procedures, and initiatives and closely partner with Human Resources and business functions across EIS. You will be integral to helping grow and scale the Legal Department, and in turn, will have a unique opportunity to develop professionally. You will have direct access to the Company's executives across the globe. Low bureaucracy. This role can be remote and will report to the Chief Legal Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as our internal employment law expert, providing day-to-day proactive support to the HR team regarding global employment law advice, assistance, and counseling.
  • You will work closely with HR to develop, maintain, and implement employment-related policies and training.
  • Draft and review employment-related documents, including offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, non-compete provisions, warning letters, etc. for compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist in developing and continuously improving our U.S. and international employee handbooks in various countries.
  • Create and continuously improve global employment documents library, including US offer letters, global employment agreements and related documents.
  • Develop best-in-class employment law practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Coordinate with regional counsel to ensure consistent application of process and standards globally.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to prioritize, respond to, and manage employee relations concerns, investigations, employee departures, litigation, and agency charges.
  • Assist in developing and continuously improving our U.S. and international employee handbooks in various countries.
  • Support our global compensation and benefits programs.
  • Oversee and direct internal investigations.
  • Work collaboratively and responsively with a broad range of colleagues in the U.S. and globally, ensuring strong relationships between Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Stock Administration, IT, Operations, and Corporate Development to facilitate a coordinated team approach.
  • Work cross-functionally with our Privacy, Cyber Security, and Compliance team.
  • Pitch-in on whatever legal work needs doing, whenever it needs to be done.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience focused on employment law working corporate in- house legal department.
  • Must have proven global experience with strong preference of enterprise technology, software product, SaaS, or related experience.
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school, or equivalent.
  • Possess the drive and ability to balance working autonomously and collaboratively in a highly dynamic fast-paced environment. Ability to work on your own without administrative or paralegal assistance. Can use outside attorneys but not the go-to solution.
  • Flexible and creative, with the initiative to contemplate multiple solutions to issues and to proactively and reliably drive complex projects.
  • Comfortable handling multiple projects and transactions in parallel, often with short deadlines.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated startup initiative - ability to self-manage, find creative ways to work through barriers, actively learn necessary skills, and manage projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and varying functions of the Company.
  • Prior experience working at or with technology companies.
  • California and Global employment law experience.

Note

You will regularly collaborate and partner with our Chief Counsel located in San Francisco, California.
