Function positioning

The role is part of the Finance Team of MBE and reports to the  Head of Statutory Reporting, Policies and Projects.

The role includes the following:

  • Primarily responsible for preparation of the statutory annual report based on IFRS
  • Maintenance and improvement of relevant IFRS Accounting Policy in collaboration with the UK Accounting Policy Group (APG)
  • Contribute to the coordination of the audit of the annual report, explain (IFRS) views to the external auditor and manage the process for quality and timely completion of the statutory annual report
  • Coordinate the audit of the financial statements
  • Provide IFRS accounting opinions on various topics (new products, yearly assessments and ad-hoc queries)
  • Identify respective reporting and data requirements relevant for the annual report (IFRS)
  • Assessment of complex transactions and appropriate accounting treatment and the reporting thereof (measurement, revenue recognition)
  • Act as internal advisor and coach for MBE colleagues on IFRS accounting disclosure requirements and (ad-hoc) queries
  • Practical contribution to implementation of accounting policy in operational processes of MBE
  • Connect with stakeholders from various departments, ranging from front office to middle and back office (risk, credit foreign) and coordinate with branches/subsidiaries and the parent company of MBE.  
  • Pro-actively challenge improvements in the statutory annual report, for disclosures, source data requirements and input from various departments.
  • Keep up with relevant developments in IFRS and important future themes to address

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
