Job Title: Global Head of Content

Location: South Africa (Remote)

About The Role

We're seeking a Global Head of Content to lead our content operations across multiple regions and languages. This role combines strategic content planning, team management, and hands-on content creation and optimization. You'll manage a distributed team of freelance writers while ensuring consistent quality and messaging across all our content channels.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Management:

  • Develop and execute global content strategy across multiple regions
  • Create, maintain and regularly update comprehensive content guidelines for all markets
  • Ensure content consistency, brand voice, and quality across all regions
  • Create and maintain content calendars for different markets
  • Generate content briefs and guidelines for writers
  • Review, edit, and optimize content across all channels
  • Monitor content performance and SEO rankings
  • Identify opportunities to repurpose and update existing content
  • Coordinate with design team for visual content needs
  • Focus on creating conversion-oriented content that drives leads and sales
  • Track and report on content's impact on business metrics

Quality Control & Standards

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive content guidelines for global consistency
  • Implement quality control processes for all published content
  • Regular audit of published content across all regions
  • Ensure all content aligns with business objectives and sales goals
  • Monitor content performance metrics and ROI
  • Maintain documentation of best practices and success cases
  • Create and update style guides for different markets while maintaining global consistency
  • Implement systems to detect and prevent AI-generated content
  • Conduct regular content audits to ensure guideline compliance
  • Ensure plagiarism-free content across all channels

Team Management & Development

  • Lead and manage a team of international freelance writers
  • Create and maintain comprehensive writer onboarding programs
  • Develop training materials and documentation for new writers
  • Conduct training sessions on content guidelines, tools, and processes
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development for writers
  • Create and update writer handbooks and reference materials
  • Implement mentoring programs for new writers
  • Regular skills assessment and improvement planning
  • Organize workshops and training sessions for specific topics
  • Assign projects based on writer expertise and regional knowledge
  • Set clear expectations and deadlines
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance
  • Ensure consistent content quality across all regions
  • Manage writer payments and performance tracking
  • Monitor writer performance and provide development opportunities

Content Distribution & Performance

  • Manage content distribution across social media, email, and other platforms
  • Oversee multilingual SEO strategy implementation
  • Monitor and optimize content performance
  • Coordinate with regional teams for localized content distribution
  • Measure and report on content ROI
  • Identify and implement content improvement opportunities

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of content management experience
  • Proven track record in managing remote teams
  • Strong understanding of SEO and content marketing
  • Experience with WordPress and content management systems
  • Proficiency in content optimization tools (Frase, Surfer SEO, Semrush)
  • Experience with project management tools (Notion, Airtable)
  • Strong editorial and proofreading skills
  • Experience in startup or agency environments
  • Understanding of multilingual content strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in creating training programs and materials
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities
  • Knowledge of AI content detection tools and strategies
  • Experience in developing and maintaining content guidelines
  • Strong understanding of content's role in sales and lead generation
  • Familiarity with content authentication tools and processes

Technical Requirements

  • Advanced WordPress knowledge
  • Proficiency in SEO tools (Frase, Surfer, Semrush)
