A Brief Overview

The Director, Human Resources Business Partner sets Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a high performing workforce. Plan, develop and direct Human Resource practices for RGA entities, whilst ensuring that regional HR processes and operations are coordinated across functions and business groups locally, regionally and around the globe as needed. Partner with business leaders to implement procedures to achieve the most effective use of human resources to achieve profitability and business objectives for our shareholders whilst ensuring the business is legally compliant and risk protected. Partner with subject matter experts in Organisational Development to plan and execute learning and development activities.

What You Will Do

  • Direct and be responsible for the Human Resources process, operations within established policy and in accordance with the authority delegated by the Regional Head of Human Resources.
  • Formulates a clear vision for Human Resources, including employee value proposition consistent with RGA strategy; and translating overall RGA strategy into business plan.
  • Managing change by involvement, participation and communication and continuing the implementation of Change Management practices and Prosci methodology
  • Actively promotes internal structures to ensure communication is diverse, effective and timely within RGA. Develops effective professional relationships with colleagues founded on openness, trust and honesty.
  • Provides thought leadership to Executive and Leadership teams on organisational design, people strategy, management and development.
  • Facilitate an inclusive and equitable culture that celebrates diversity. Actively creates a learning environment so that talent can be identified and supported. In this way ensuring development plans can be maximized. Support a culture of proactive psycho-social safety and contribution to the broader community.
  • Consistently ensures that progress is analysed against key metrics including financial, operational and internal/external benchmarks.
  • Continuously strive to improve the business by proactively seeking feedback and benchmarking against best in class operations.
  • In conjunction with the management team, ensures the integrity of the recruitment, selection, performance management and termination processes.
  • Ensures legal compliance and risk protection Work Health Safety obligations and attestations, WGEA (Workplace Gender Equality Agency) annual submission, and Industry regulatory implementation requirements such as APRA (Australian Prudential Regulation Authority) post Royal Commission including the FAR (financial accountability regime) and CPS (Prudential Standards) 511

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) or M.B.A.
  • Formal tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management
  • Strong Employee Relations and HR Legal knowledge and Business Partner experience
  • 15+ Years experience in Senior HR management and leadership positions with experience on an Executive Committee and leading teams
  • Board and Remuneration Committee Experience
  • Experience working in a multi-national, matrix work environment.
  • A positive, solutions focus that seeks to recognise and leverage opportunities to achieve win win outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and engage others in change requirements and be highly collaborative.
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Comfortable managing team members in a remote work environment
  • Ability to think strategically as well as act operationally and demonstrated ability to execute on those plans.
  • Experience in managing and influencing key stakeholders and their expectations.
  • Experience working in a highly technical environment.
  • Effective people management skills and experience.
  • Experience within the financial services/insurance industries or global consulting firm.
  • Asian Language Skills.
