Client Finance Manager 

 

Role Overview 
As the Bookkeeping Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising the junior bookkeeping team, managing workflow, and ensuring high standards of client service. This role requires a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team effectively. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
 
Team Management: 

  • Lead and manage the team of bookkeepers at The Backroom. 
  • Assign and prioritise workloads, ensuring deadlines are met. 
  • Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to team members. 
  • Conduct regular team meetings to monitor progress, address challenges, and provide updates. 

 
Workflow Management: 

  • Oversee the bookkeeping workflow, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in processes. 
  • Review and approve work completed by team members before submission to clients or senior management. 

 
Client Management: 

  • Act as the main point of contact for complex client queries related to bookkeeping. 
  • Ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery to clients. 
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships. 

 
Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare accounts to trial balance. 
  • Reconcile bank accounts, process VAT returns, and manage payroll where required. 
  • Stay updated with changes in bookkeeping practices, software, and regulatory requirements. 

 
Process Improvement: 

  • Identify areas for improvement in processes and implement solutions. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. 

 
Skills and Qualifications 

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, with a strong understanding of financial principles. 
  • Previous team management experience. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero and FreeAgent). 
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
  • A recognised bookkeeping or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ICB) is preferred but not essential.
