Job Summary
The Data Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing the data engineering and analytics organization within the company. This role will play a critical function in providing certified data products for the organization to enable data-driven decision-making and to ensure the effective utilization of data assets. The data leader will work closely with Enterprise Architecture group and Data Excellence group to develop the data strategy for the organization. The Data Leader will be responsible for leading data teams, executing the data strategy and fostering a data-driven culture.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Strategic Leadership:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of data governance policies and procedures.
- Partner with Data Excellence organization to develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the organization, promoting data literacy and awareness.
Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of managers, data engineers and analysts.
- Recruit, hire, and develop talented data professionals.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
Data Engineering:
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Application, Product and business teams to identify data requirements and implement data solutions.
Data Analytics:
- Drive the development and implementation of data analytics capabilities, including reporting, dashboards, and advanced analytics.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify data-driven insights and opportunities.
- Support the use of data analytics to inform decision-making and improve business outcomes.
Technology and Tools:
- Stay up to date with the latest data technologies and tools.
- Evaluate and select appropriate data technologies to support the organization's needs.
- Ensure the effective use of data platforms and tools.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading data teams and managing complex data projects.
- Strong technical skills, including knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, data mining, and machine learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable terms for business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for data and a drive to use data to drive business value.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure ADLS, Synapse, Big data)
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Experience with data engineering tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SSIS)
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik)
- Experience with Semantic modeling, structured & unstructured data
- Experience with data science programming languages & tools (e.g., Python, R, Spark)

The range for this position is $173,600.00 to $312,500.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
