Centurion is proud to be the provider of behavioral health services to the Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration Program.



The Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration Program provides treatment to individuals for competency restoration both in the community and in the jail setting.



We are currently seeking a full-time Competency Support Specialist/Case Manager to join our team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  



Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Competency Support Specialist/Case Manager is responsible for providing education regarding competency to stand trial, as well as case management services to patients in jail and/or a community setting to meet service delivery requirements of the Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration and Support Team (MCRST).is responsible for providing behavioral health services, primarily therapy (individual and groups), for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders in a jail and/or a community setting to meet service delivery requirements of the Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration Support Team (MCRST).



Schedule:  Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Serves as specialist for restoration of competency for individuals with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders as ordered by the Court in jail and/or a community setting.
  • Provides competency restoration education services to assist individuals attaining competency for court proceedings by providing supportive education and intervention services using the PA COMPKIT in jail and/or a community setting.
  • Establishes ongoing relationships with patients, interdisciplinary treatment team, county jail, and courts including: county jail staff and administration; criminal and magisterial court judges and court staff (as needed); local law enforcement; local legal counsel including prosecutors and public defenders (as needed); and other community-based treatment staff.
  • Researches, identify, and coordinate community care to include but not limited to: housing, medication, transportation, peer support groups, vocational opportunities.
  • Ensures that all of the mandated paperwork is completed in relation to these services.
  • Provides and documents services in compliance with policy, patient rights, confidentiality, and Medicaid regulations as applicable.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Social Science related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of case management-related experience required; preferred experience providing restoration services or experience teaching.
  • Knowledge about mental illness and co-occurring-disorders; a basic understanding of the criminal-legal system preferred.
  • Prior experience in a psychiatric hospital, behavioral health (community or inpatient) center, or a correctional facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of community supports for individuals transitioning from jail into the community.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and document services in a manner that maximizes accountability; strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word, and Excel programs.
  • Ability to interact well with varied levels of managerial, clinical, custody, court, and administrative staff in correctional and community environments.
  • Must be able to work independently, set and meet deadlines, ability to work from home and demonstrate productivity.
  • A valid automobile driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work is required.
  • Active in-person CPR certification required along with current tuberculosis screening.
  • Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance (Act 33/34 Clearances are required and ability to pass Allegheny County background check including drug testing).
