Monitoring Tool Instrumentation Engineer

IT Concepts, Inc. (ITC) is seeking an experienced Monitoring Tool Instrumentation Engineer to support our VA-ESOM- End Point Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States. The VA is responsible for providing comprehensive onsite and remote support to IT customers across all VA Administrations and special program offices, including direct support of over 340,000 VA employees and thousands of contractors who use government-furnished IT equipment and infrastructure. The VA provides support staff across 100+ CONUS and OCONUS locations including difficult-to-accommodate locales, such as high cost of living or under supported economic areas, where VA offices or facilities may be located and require onsite services. 

Work as a Monitoring Tool Instrumentation Engineer on our team as we help the customer overcome their most difficult challenges in performance monitoring.

Responsibilities:

Gather customer application data and diagrams, leverage expertise in recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommend performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs, and provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations.

Employ expertise in performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool.

Use your customer service expertise to help manage tasks and organize large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an enterprise monitoring solution.

Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

Provide on-the-job training to application POCs and event management.

Develop and tweak documentation.

Location: This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia. 

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:  

  • 5+ years of experience with integration engineering  
  • 1+ years of experience in at least 2 of the following tools:  AppD, Dynatrace, Splunk ITSI, SolarWinds or ScienceLogic with installing agents, forwarders, APIs, performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool.  
  • 1+ years of experience with ServiceNow ITSM  
  • Experience with recommending baseline monitoring thresholds and performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs  
  • Experience with gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise monitoring solution.  
  • Experience with creating technical documentation.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.  
  • Ability to provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations.

  • Experience with the VA  
  • Experience with Splunk, SolarWinds or ScienceLogic a plus.  
  • Experience with VA VistA  
  • Experience with the ServiceNow Visual Task Boards  
  • Experience in Agile and Scrum  
  • Ability to work with customers and manage schedules.  
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
