About the team:

Prophet is a leading risk management platform used by the financial services industry around the world to model companies’ financial business.
Our team is working on a greenfield Prophet SaaS project.  That means the ability to experiment and implement novel technologies, extensively use public cloud technologies and be part of a strategic SaaS business within FIS.  In short, the first phase of the system will combine a web UI and microservices running in docker containers. This first phase will enable the execution of processes that perform in depth calculations based upon the actuarial models built by our clients.

What you will be doing:

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement. Although Agile Release Trains (ARTs) are composed of self-organizing and self-managing teams, trains don’t drive or steer themselves on autopilot. That responsibility falls to the RTE, who operate most effectively as servant leaders. You have a solid grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile practices and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program.

  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the release using various tools

  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for releases

  • Assure release processes is followed in accordance with FIS Standards (testing, compliance, deployment)

  • Support release planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI release events

  • Summarize Team quarterly Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency

  •  Assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities

  • Help manage risks and dependencies

  • Escalate and track impediments

  • Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering

  • Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline

  • Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the teams and help them improve

  • Listen and support teams in problem identification and decision-making

What you bring:

  • Preferably have a working experience of 5+ years

  • Demonstrated Release Train Engineer experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation. Experience coordinating multiple teams in a technology environment

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing and explaining technical and project related information to clients, vendors, senior management, and staff

  • Ability to easily build new relationships and proactively establish a variety of contacts across the organization

  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams

  • Broad range of program management and leadership skills required

  • Proven ability to balance concurrent activities

  • Strong knowledge and experience in software development in an Agile environment

Added bonus if you have:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or equivalent

  • Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certification or equivalent

  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC5) certification or equivalent

  • Experience in building cloud native SaaS platforms

  • Experience in finance/insurance
