Your role

We are looking for a Head of External Engagement, a key team in our technology ecosystem

This area is responsible for leading and coordinating Santander´s global external Engagement strategy on cyber security. You will work with a wide range of high-profile external bilateral and multilateral organisations, such as the United Nations, the World Economic Forum and the Organisation of American States, in order to deliver joint strategic and tactical initiatives on cybersecurity. Through these joint projects, your goal is to create a more secure global cyber security ecosystem, in which the cost and risk of perpetrating cybercrime is increased, and ultimately the bank´s clients are more secure. You will work with a global scope, coordinating with cyber security leads in all Santander entities to set a clear strategy for external engagement, and to identify and execute global and local-level projects. This will include influencing new external policies and regulations, building cyber capacity through supporting delivery of trainings and wargaming, and communicating clearly and consistently the views of Santander to external partners in key forums and working groups, on key strategic topics like AI risk, cyber-fraud and other new and emerging cyber threats.

👩🏿‍💻 Your main tasks will be:

Governance: Coordinating a consistent approach to external engagement with the cyber leads in each entity and Global Heads, ensuring that our “golden messages” are followed in outwards communications

  • Identifying: Looking for new and exciting collaboration opportunities across the globe, where Santander can increase its influence and help create a more secure cyber security ecosystem.

  • Delivering: Oversee the delivery of global or locally-led collaboration projects with external projects, with international travel to the relevant body or entity as appropriate, and ensuring these are delivered on-time, within budget and with risks adequately escalated:

    • Strategically, on topics such as cyber skills, AI cyber risks, policy and regulation, collaboration in LATAM, and creation of stronger public-private partnerships, including with law enforcement.

    • Tactically, to create or enhance platforms for driving up information sharing on areas such as cyber-fraud, quantum threat, and the fight against ransomware.

  • Reporting: Follow agile methodology to report progress on these workstreams to the monthly Cyber Security Governance Board (STC and QBR), flagging risks as needed and collecting metrics to deliver against agreed OKRs. Also providing rapid briefings on outcomes of visits or external engagements to the Global Head of Governance Risk & Compliance.

What you’ll bring

You’re sure to fit in if you like technology and are constantly learning about new developments, as well as having an interest in better understanding the risks faced by the Bank. In addition to developing your technical skills, you should also be interested in improving your soft skills

If you think you’ve got what it takes, these are the key skills we’ll be looking for in your CV:

  • Practical, hands-on experience working in cyber security roles, ideally in a more technical or operational capacity.

  • Sufficient awareness and understanding to be able to talk confidently in an external forum about: current and emerging cyber threats, the technical cyber security environment and the key policies and procedures for managing and preventing cyber attacks.

  • Evidence of collaborating with external cyber partners to deliver joint initiatives

  • The organizational and planning skills to organize and execute large-scale cyber-related events, involving external stakeholders, to a clear deadline and budget.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills in English and Spanish. Experience presenting on cyber topics to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience setting a strategic plan and reporting on that plan using Agile methodologies, setting clear OKRs and objectives.
