Bilingual Claim Administrator

Location: Remote - Anywhere in Canada


Please note the base salary will be determined by the successful candidate's education, skills and experience. The listed salary range serves as a general pay guideline for this position's pay level.


Empire life is looking to hire a Claim Administrator to join our Group Operations team!

What you’ll be working on

  • Setting up and inputting new claims (weekly indemnity, long-term disability, life waiver, life, etc)

  • Assigning claims to team members with consideration given to workload, workflow and complexity criteria

  • Reviewing and analyzing data to determine benefit eligibility and gather contract provision information relating to the pre-existing condition exclusion and non-evidence maximum guidelines 

  • Provide ongoing and timely communication with our customers based on department protocols; provide claim status updates, request information, address general enquiries and clearly explain processes.

  • Participating in team collaboration to ensure optimal workflow and adherence to client service levels 

  • Responding to incoming enquiries from our customers, vendors, medical offices in a timely manner, etc. 

  • Preparing memos and correspondence as requested by team members 

  • Managing permanent disability claims with an emphasis on the CPP-D/QPP-D application process 

  • Calculating CPP-D/QPP-D offsets and overpayments 

What we’re looking for you to have
  • 3+ years work experience in an office setting

  • Completion of a college diploma in Business Administration or a related program

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is required

  • Customer focused and service orientated

  • Excellent listening and verbal/written communication skills

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database computer software

  • Knowledge of group insurance business operations

  • Ability to apply policy terms and make timely decisions to solve problems

  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and have attention to detail/accuracy while being adaptable and flexible

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and contribute as a collaborative team member
