Job description

Our client is undertaking a phased rollout of a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system across multiple clinics, starting with a pilot and expanding to additional clinics. Accurate data migration is paramount for seamless transitions, and we are seeking an experienced Data Migration Specialist to manage, validate, and execute data migration efforts. This specialist will collaborate with vendors, clinic Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and internal teams to ensure the integrity and accuracy of patient data through each migration phase.

Scope of Work (SoW):
  1. Data Mapping and Validation

    • Collaborate with clinic SMEs and EMR Product Owner to validate vendor-provided data mapping.
    • Ensure that essential patient and medical data fields align with predefined business rules and clinical standards.
  2. Migration Execution and Oversight

    • Oversee vendor-led data migration, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
    • Execute ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Loading) tasks as needed, coordinating with clinic teams for minimal operational disruption.
  3. Automated Data Quality Checks

    • Develop and implement automated data validation scripts for accuracy and completeness.
    • Utilize available tools to identify discrepancies or errors promptly.
  4. Issue Identification and Resolution

    • Document and address any data anomalies during migration.
    • Coordinate with data engineers, system developers, and vendors to resolve issues swiftly.
  5. Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation on data mapping, migration steps, and validation checks.
    • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders and deliver a final report summarizing migration outcomes.
  6. Stakeholder Collaboration

    • Act as a primary point of contact for data migration queries, ensuring alignment across clinic SMEs, IT teams, and vendors.
  7. Continuous Improvement

    • Continuously enhance the data migration framework, incorporating lessons learned to improve accuracy and efficiency for subsequent clinic migrations.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in data migration, particularly within healthcare or EMR systems

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective collaboration skills for working with vendors and cross-functional teams
  • Solid documentation and reporting skills
  • MS SQL and standard relational databases
