Job description

We are seeking a Product Manager to join our growing, global company and shape the future of IDEXX’s global veterinary software business.  You will be a core member of the Veterinary Software & Services Clinical Workflow team, a high-performing group of entrepreneurial leaders paving the path for IDEXX in the veterinary software space.

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for our Clinical Workflow software which serves a critical mission in helping our customers run more efficiently, and standardize their care processes. You will leverage process, technology, and data-driven techniques to develop and drive a product strategy.  You will interact with internal and external customers to identify needs that are prioritized and transformed into product requirements and serve as a key resource for the Core Team which includes Engineering, Customer Support, Marketing, and Documentation.

IDEXX’s Clinical Workflow software has the opportunity to address the growing veterinary capacity challenges with solutions that streamline clinical processes from admission to discharge.  While some efforts have been launched in the market, there is still much to be gained.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with internal and external customers and stakeholders to identify user requirements and seek opportunities to support critical business strategies, improve business processes, and educate teams about the strategic use of technology.

  • Translate business processes or concepts into technical, functional, and non-functional requirements

  • Create, socialize and maintain the product roadmap.

  • Write crisp functional and business requirements documents.

  • Exhibit excellent judgment on how to prioritize between features, architectural improvements, and operational excellence.

  • Assist with the development of related products from conception to delivery and ultimately bug fixes and maintenance

  • Work as part of project teams to create/enhance/implement business processes and supporting solutions ensuring requirements are delivered as agreed and on time

  • Provide input and updates to project plans, resource tracking, issues, and risks during projects.

  • Participate in/support relevant scrum teams and model continuous process improvement behaviors.

  • Coordinate with marketing, engineering, research and development, sales, finance, and others to manage projects and ensure overall product success.

  • Communicate with customers to gain feedback on user product experiences and opportunities. Ensure correct features are identified, taking into account customers, sales, finance, related lines of business, and others.  Prioritize and negotiate to build the best possible set of features to be included and developed in the new products.

  • Promote/train product advantages and benefits to IDEXX employees, key vendors, and others.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years of related professional business experience, project management experience, and/or related product experience.

  • 5+ years of customer-facing (internal/external) product development, technical program management, and product management experience including defining, launching, and optimizing products, services, and platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to harvest ambiguous input, derive product requirements, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

  • Knowledge of clinical in-patient processes and the experience of the caregiver.

  • Experienced in agile product development – Jira and Confluence experience a plus.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity, demonstrated business acumen, and a self-directed, active learner.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and presentation skills; demonstrates strong presence, and instills credibility and confidence across a range of audiences.

  • Results-oriented self-starter, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines with limited supervision, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Must be decisive and tolerant of a level of ambiguity and able to influence without authority.
