The role
As a Fuel Handling PAG Deputy Chair, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will form part of the team that authorises work authorities for fuel handling/defueling of nuclear submarines. You will have significant input and influence on the fuel handling/defuel process.
Day-to-day, you’ll produce, authorise, and approve nuclear submarine technical documentation, (nuclear fuel handling)
- Day to day management and leadership of a team of technical authors
- Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders and regulators
- Reviewing, and authorising technical documentation
- Ensuring compliance with safety case requirements
- Driving and embedding a leading health and safety culture throughout the sphere of influence
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Fuel Handling PAG Deputy Chair
- Submarine refit, refuel, revalidation or assisted maintenance period or long overhaul period experience
- Facilities operations and maintenance experience
- CAT A/B Royal Naval Watchkeeper
- Experience in civil nuclear
- Proven leadership, management and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of plant safety cases
Qualifications for the Fuel Handling PAG Deputy Chair
- HNC or above in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Nuclear Warship Support Course – Desirable
