Description

OpenLoop is looking for a Head of IT to join our team Remotely or in Des Moines. In this role you will oversee our IT support teams, ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective technology services across the organization. This role involves implementing improvements to IT infrastructure, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, and developing comprehensive IT compliance programs aligned with standards such as SOC 2, HITRUST, and HIPAA.


About the Role

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee IT support teams to ensure and support secure, efficient, and effective technology services across the organization and use throughout their lifecycle to help secure the organizations assets and data.
  • Implement IT infrastructure improvements and maintain security technologies while continually looking for opportunities to optimize the implementation and operations of the technologies.
  • Monitor and control performance and status of all security systems and look for ways to optimize system resources to enhance the effectiveness and security of the environment.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the IT support teams.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive IT compliance programs (aligned with SOC 2, HITRUST, HIPAA, etc.) and align technologies to support overall strategy and information security framework.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance and update policies accordingly.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring all compliance requirements are met and documented.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed security best practices into the development lifecycle. 
  • Participates in projects as required; analyze, design, develop and implement security solutions which protect the information assets while enabling business functionality.
  • Assess IT infrastructure and applications and make recommendations for improvements based on the organizations risk tolerance levels.
  • Develop materials and processes to assist the organization with implementing both technical and non-technical controls.
  • Implement proactive risk management strategies. Reviews new and existing system designs for compliance with security standards and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for clients on IT compliance and security matters.
  • Develop frameworks and processes for responding to client security questionnaires and inquiries promptly and accurately.
  • Partner with internal departments such as Legal, HR, and Finance and external partners to align compliance and security efforts.
  • Lead incident response efforts in collaboration with relevant teams when security issues arise.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT compliance, security, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams and driving compliance initiatives.
  • Proven experience with relevant compliance frameworks.
  • Background in the health-tech industry or other regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience interfacing with clients and handling security-related inquiries.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent are preferred.
