We’re looking for a senior accountant to join our ranks. The senior accountant will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. This role combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining monthly general ledger entries and facilitating monthly close schedules
- Monitoring bank balances via an online interface; recording activity to the general ledger daily
- Preparing accurate and timely monthly account reconciliations, financial statements, and analysis
- Provide support integral to any internal and external audits
- Communicating with external auditors and assisting with all audit schedules and reports
- Preparing accurate and timely internal and external reports
- Initiating process improvements in applicable accounting functions
- Documenting, analyzing, and communicating monthly transactional details
- Maintain, monitoring, and documenting strong internal controls
- Ability to work cross-functionally and answer internal and external inquiries
- Cross-training in various other accounting functions
Core Strengths and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
- 4-7 years accounting/finance experience (CPA license and public accounting experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of accounting theory, GAAP, and a willingness to research and resolve accounting issues
- Experience with medium to large ERP and accounting systems (Great Plains a plus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties
