Job description

Join ABBYY and be part of a team that celebrates your unique work style. With flexible work options, a supportive team, and rewards that reflect your value, you can focus on what matters most – driving your growth, while fuelling ours.

Our commitment to respect, transparency, and simplicity means you can trust us to always choose to do the right thing.

As a trusted partner for intelligent automation, we solve highly complex problems for our enterprise customers and put their information to work to transform the way they do business. Innovation and excellence run through our veins, and you will work with experts who are creating market-leading technologies, using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and an advanced and sophisticated tech stack.

The VP of Product Management & Strategy will lead the centralized Product Strategy team, a small but highly influential group responsible for aligning and coordinating product strategy and roadmaps across all product lines and product groups. This individual will serve as a virtual leader for all Product Managers throughout the organization, ensuring that product management best practices are implemented and upheld consistently across the company.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in product management, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment on product strategy and execution. This role will require a mix of strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and hands-on management of a core product team to deliver impactful product outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Centralized Product Strategy Team: Manage and lead a small team of Product Managers focused on developing and aligning product strategy across all product lines and groups. Ensure that the team’s work is coordinated, driving a unified approach to product strategy across the organization.
  • Product Roadmap Coordination: Oversee the development of coordinated product roadmaps across all product lines, ensuring alignment with business goals and market needs. Facilitate cross-product collaboration to create an integrated strategy.
  • Virtual Leadership for Product Managers: Act as a virtual leader for all Product Managers in the company, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight. Foster a collaborative and consistent approach to product management practices across teams and geographies.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Ensure that product management best practices are being carried out across the organization. This includes establishing standardized processes for product discovery, development, and go-to-market strategies, as well as driving the adoption of tools and frameworks that support excellence in product management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders across R&D, marketing, sales, and customer success to align product initiatives with company goals. Ensure that product management activities are well-coordinated with other functions, optimizing the overall customer experience and business impact.
  • Strategic Product Vision: Provide leadership in defining and communicating the overall strategic product vision for the company. Ensure the product strategy is forward-looking and aligned with company strategy, industry trends, customer needs, and competitive pressures.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for product management performance. Ensure that product managers across the organization are delivering measurable impact, and that product decisions are data-driven.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with senior leadership, including the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) and other executive stakeholders, to ensure alignment on product strategy and execution.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Lead efforts to ensure that the product strategy is informed by market trends, customer feedback, and competitive insights. Use data and insights to shape product direction and prioritize initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Product Management Leadership: Extensive experience leading product management teams and driving the development of product strategies and roadmaps, particularly in a complex or multi-product environment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically about product direction, market opportunities, and cross-product alignment. Experience developing and implementing long-term product strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization, fostering collaboration and alignment across product, engineering, marketing, and other key business units.
  • Best Practices Advocate: Deep knowledge of product management best practices, frameworks, and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, Design Thinking). Experience driving the adoption of these practices across a diverse organization.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A track record of ensuring that product decisions are centered around customer needs and market opportunities. Proven ability to translate customer feedback and market insights into product improvements and innovations.
  • Analytical and Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to inform product strategy, set priorities, and measure product success.
  • Executive Communication: Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to present complex product strategies and updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product Led Growth: Experience with successfully implementing product led growth strategies.
  • Product Management Certifications: Certifications in product management (e.g., Pragmatic Marketing, AIPMM) are a plus.
  • Experience in Technology/Product-Driven Markets: Experience leading product management in fast-paced, technology-driven markets is preferred, particularly within SaaS, cloud services, or AI-related industries.
  • Advanced Degree: A master’s degree in business, product management, or a technical field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
