Job description

Staff Software Engineer - Web Platform | Remote | Permanent

Job Responsibilities
  • Engage in the development, planning, architecture, and design of both client-facing and internal web applications, prioritizing performance, usability, and accessibility.
  • Work across a wide array of technologies with an emphasis on web and frontend development, contributing to all layers of the stack and platform.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, product managers, designers, and other teams within a remote-first organization.
  • Participate in projects from the requirements phase through to production, assisting in shaping the roadmap alongside the team's Technical Lead and stakeholders.
  • Elevate engineering standards, testing practices, and documentation, while mentoring and sharing insights with the team.
Qualifications
  • Possess 8-12 years of experience in frontend development with contemporary technologies. Our stack includes TypeScript, React, Remix, and Tailwind, though relevant expertise is equally valued.
  • Proficient in navigating a full stack environment, encompassing frontend, backend, database, and infrastructure. Our backend stack features C#, GraphQL, SQL Server, and Cosmos DB, hosted on Azure.
  • Skilled in debugging and diagnosing issues within complex systems across the stack.
  • Strong understanding of application and system design, with the capability to contribute to infrastructure, devops, and backend APIs when needed.
  • Empathetic towards application users, with a focus on creating user-centric experiences.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative setting, balancing discussion and documentation of ideas with their implementation.
  • Utilize Windows and WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) as the primary development environment. This is a strict requirement for this position.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States – no exceptions.
  • Although the role is fully remote, candidates must be willing to travel to New York City 2 to 4 times annually.
  • While hiring is nationwide, the individual in this role should anticipate significant overlap with Eastern Standard Time (EST).
