Job description

The planet urgently needs safe, reliable, zero-carbon energy without waste. Nuclear fusion can address the scale of this problem, but for decades, existing fusion approaches have not proven a net positive energy gain. Zap Energy has rethought the fundamental technology of fusion. As the only company using sheared-flow-stabilized Z-pinch, we present potentially the fastest path to commercially available fusion energy.

Zap Energy is currently looking for a Contracts Manager to guide contract preparation, review and administration across Zap Energy’s business. This scope ranges from exception review of standard terms and conditions, through large partnerships with government entities or corporate development efforts such as join development or acquisition. The ideal candidate is highly organized, a creative problem solver and is a clear, succinct communicator on detailed technical challenges.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide guidance and leadership on generating and reviewing contractual requirements, to a multi-functional team.
  • Guide strategically important negotiations for long term agreements, statement of work contracts, strategic partnerships, teaming/licensing agreements, acquisitions, transitional services agreements, joint development agreements, terms and conditions for important supplier relationships.
  • Draft statement of work, terms and conditions, service agreement contracts.
  • Provide guidance on contractual compliance, risk/liability mitigation through scope and terms definitions.
  • Coordinate on-time fulfillment of contract deliverables, acting as the principal liaison with the contracted party on regular reviews, meeting minutes, action tracking.
  • Provide visibility on contract fulfillment status to the Zap Energy organization, communicating to the senior leadership team and stakeholders.
  • Inform non-disclosure agreement negotiation, protecting the interests of Zap Energy’s IP against larger entity disclosure templates.
  • Navigate international IP considerations for the global supply chain, while balancing business velocity in the execution of non-disclosure agreements.
  • Continuously improve standard Terms and Conditions.
  • Act as the contracts focal within Zap Energy, providing prompt, judicious and thorough processing to the Zap Energy team.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelors in Business, Engineering, Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract management.

Preferred:

  • Masters in Business Administration

Benefits of joining Zap Energy - While doing meaningful work is rewarding in itself, we also offer the following programs and benefits for all employees:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Premium medical / dental / vision insurance
  • Flexible vacation and paid company holidays

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Zap Energy is building a low-cost, compact and scalable fusion energy platform that confines and compresses plasma without the need for expensive and complex magnetic coils. Zap’s sheared-flow-stabilized Z-pinch technology offers the shortest potential path to commercially viable fusion and requires orders of magnitude less capital than traditional approaches. Zap Energy has over 150 employees in two facilities near Seattle, and is backed by leading financial and strategic investors.

Zap Energy is an equal opportunity employer.
