DEPARTMENT: Energy Programs

POSITION TITLE: Energy Efficiency Coordinator

LOCATION: Greenfield/Travel throughout the Service Area

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISOR: Director of Energy Programs


 


POSITION SUMMARY


The Energy Efficiency Coordinator oversees the department’s Weatherization services including supervision of technical field staff and performing energy audits and quality control inspections. The Efficiency Coordinator will identify and achieve individual and departmental goals to maximize completed projects. They will work closely with the Business Manager and the Energy Director to further the goals of the department. They will have direct responsibility to ensure that efficiencies are built into departmental processes to serve more clients. This position requires a high degree of organization, goal setting and attainment, and funding source and vendor communication.  



RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervision: Oversee the assignment of work orders to contractors and oversee data collection and work output of field technicians 
  • Supervise the departmental programs and personnel in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Selects, trains/orients, and supervises department personnel.
  • Inspires and motivates others to achieve increasing levels of performance excellence. Takes an active leadership role in valuing and promoting different perspectives and opinions and approaches throughout the agency.
  • Evaluates performance and recommends compensation, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Onboarding: Help select, orient, train, and supervise new technical staff in compliance with agency and funding source policies and procedures. 

Clients: Respond to clients as needed.

  1. Contractors: Communicate with vendors and assist in the recruitment of additional vendors as needed. Monitoring installations and assisting contractors in answering questions as needed. 
  2. Jobs: Monitor job production and support technical staff to meet production goals. 
  3. Collaboration: Work as a team with other department coordinators and across agency departments  
  4. Job folders: All required information is updated and complete 
  5. Data entry: Use several database systems to input job-related data 
  6. Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other staff to meet the department’s responsibilities and reach its production goals 
  7. Professional development: Take part in training as defined by supervisor and funding sources. 
  8. Inventory: Maintain inventory and request to order equipment and supplies as needed 
  9. Funders: Comply with funding source technical and administrative requirements 
  10. Remote work available complying with the agency’s policy.
  11. Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  12. Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings, team meetings, mandatory agency trainings, and participate in professional development activities.
  13. Perform other duties, responsibilities and activities may to meet the operational needs of the Agency

Key Knowledge and Experience:


  • Experience working with marginalized communities and individuals with low incomes
  • Experience involved with residential energy audits, including assessment of Building Shell, Health & Safety and Home Heating Appliances
  • Experience with data management, data capture, tracking methods and analysis for outcome measurements
  • Proficiency with ASHRAE 62.2 Whole House Ventilation requirements. 
  • Proficiency assessing Home Heating System performance. 
  • Experience sizing Home Heating Equipment for replacement. 
  • Building Construction, Insulation, or Healthy Homes background. 
  • Understanding of the house-as-a-system approach to weatherization and home improvement: interrelationships among heat transfer, solar gains and losses, heating system performance, comfort, durability, safety, etc.
  • Knowledge of vermiculite, Knob & Tube, mold/mildew/allergen, etc., mitigation
  • Knowledge and effective application of Funding Source rules and guidelines for the expenditure of Energy Efficiency, Weatherization, and other relevant funds
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, building design and construction, and inherent problems associated with older housing stock and multi-family homes
  • Computer skills: E-mail, Microsoft Office applications, data entry and energy modeling software programs



To Qualify


Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

  • 4 years of experience in related field 
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in related field 
  • Must have own reliable transportation for traveling throughout the agency and program’s service area.
  • DOE required BPI EA/QCI certification 
  • MA Department of EOHLC DOE Energy Auditor Certification
  • OSHA 10 (or greater) training/certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within three months of hire
  • Moderate Lead Renovator certification and DOE/MA Lead-Safe Training and certification preferred,or ability to obtain certification with three months of hire.
  • Proficiency with building diagnostics and building diagnostic equipment preferred: blower door, zonal pressure differentials, infrared thermography, fan flow meter, pressure pan, duct tester preferred. On-the-job training provided.
  • Proficiency with BPI combustion safety protocols preferred: CO safety analysis of all combustion appliances, gas leak detection of all distribution systems preferred. On-the-job training provided.
