Role Overview: We're looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to guide our engineering efforts, ensuring our technology sets high standards in the industry. This role involves leading and mentoring engineers, enhancing our software design and architecture and driving best practices in software engineering and operations.
What You'll Do at Siena:
Directly manage engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture of growth and high performance, including goal setting, performance management and career development.
Lead the engineering process from conception to deployment.
Lead software design and architectural decisions.
Collaborate with Product and Design to define project requirements and goals.
Manage cycle planning and delivery, estimation, engineering resource allocation.
Conduct code reviews and manage releases.
Develop solutions for ambiguous problems, collaborating with Product, Design, and Customer Success.
Apply your experience with Postgres and CI/CD tools to improve our engineering practices.
Who You Are:
You have at least 5 years of software engineering experience and at least 2 years of experience managing a team of 10+ software engineers.
You have experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring and developing engineering talent.
You have a strong background in software architecture, specifically with highly scalable, robust SaaS applications.
You communicate complex ideas effectively and align team efforts.
You have a track record of strong technical judgment and delivering creative solutions that delight customers.
You're experienced with agile methodologies and committed to continuous improvement.
You have a working knowledge of LLMs, AI or machine learning.
You're familiar with backend development in NodeJS, Typescript, Express, and AWS services.
You have experience with Postgres and CI/CD tools like GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
Nice to Have:
Experience with remote or distributed teams.
Professional experience developing systems that use Generative AI
Involvement in open-source or personal projects.
