The Global Marketing Events Manager leads and executes business-to-business (B2B) events across multiple regions for the Pontoon brand. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, the GEM is responsible for identifying the right events that drive awareness, consideration and ultimately Marketing Qualified Leads (MQL's). From conception to fulfillment, the GEM delivers measurable B2B and Partner events with the Creative and Digital Marketing teams creating strong campaigns that promote the event to key clients and potential customers.
This role takes a global and proactive approach, engaging with global and regional leadership as the subject matter expert in events. It aims to maximise opportunities for building the Pontoon brand, generating qualified leads, and nurturing existing client relationships.
This role works closely with Global Marketing & Sales teams in thought leadership and digital marketing to develop and manage integrated events and campaigns, including conferences, client and supplier events, webinars, executive roundtable events, corporate summits, and programs. This role is an integral member of the wider marketing team, collaborating in both the planning and execution of global marketing strategies.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aligns, creates and executes Pontoon's event marketing strategy to support the overarching Global Marketing plans.
- Fully owns the strategy of events, from targeting audiences, understanding the competitive landscape and developing and implementing the corresponding event plan, including subject matter expert identification, materials creation, staffing, on-site set-up and day of management, online platforms and logistics.
- Ensures that the branding and messaging in marketing materials are optimised across multiple channels and are consistent with strategic objectives.
- Develops audience acquisition plans and executes promotional campaigns to drive event attendance in collaboration with sales, social media and marketing automation.
- Manages budgets, participates in vendor contract negotiations and establishes measurable objectives and success criteria, including pre-event promotions, post-event evaluations and ROI analysis. Including reporting on the total cost vs ROI per event.
- Continuously reports plans, recommendations and results to the Marketing team and senior leadership.
- Maintains a solid understanding of how events and campaigns align with a global organisation's overall marketing and communications strategy.
- Develop a standard event and campaign planning governance processes that non-marketing colleagues in the field can easily adopt and use.
- Coordinates with subject matter experts to write event abstracts and creates required content and material.
- Provides expertise and insight on marketing trends, registration trends, tools, and processes to evolve the company’s programs and events.
- Sources external speaking engagements.
- Preps colleagues for speaking roles including support with content, talking points, and design.
- Works closely with internal communications for consistent internal and external communications.
What you’ll be doing
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to align event strategies with broader company goals.
- Adapt events to regional differences and work with global teams to ensure alignment and relevance in various markets.
Event Strategy & Planning:
- Aligns, creates and executes Pontoon's event marketing strategy to support the overarching Global Marketing plans.
- Fully owns the strategy of events, including targeting audiences, understanding the competitive landscape, and developing the event plan.
- Develop standard event and campaign planning governance processes that non-marketing colleagues in the field can easily adopt and use.
- Creates and maintains a yearly corporate calendar and a repository on the company intranet for all relevant events/campaign materials.
Event Execution & Management:
- Maintain relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure quality event delivery.
- Oversees end-to-end event management, including subject matter expert identification, materials creation, staffing, on-site set-up, day-of management, online platforms, and logistics.
- Coordinates with subject matter experts to write event abstracts and create required content and materials.
- Manages audience acquisition plans and executes promotional campaigns to drive event attendance, collaborating with sales, social media, and marketing automation teams.
- Prepares colleagues for speaking roles, providing support with content, talking points, and design.
- Travel to critical events as needed to manage on-site setup, execution, and breakdown.
Branding, Messaging & Communications:
- Ensures that branding and messaging in marketing materials are optimised across multiple channels and are consistent with strategic objectives.
- Works closely with internal communications teams to ensure consistent internal and external communications.
- Sources external speaking engagements and provides expertise on marketing trends, registration trends, tools, and processes to evolve the company’s event programs.
Budgeting & ROI Analysis:
- Manages event budgets, participates in vendor contract negotiations, and establishes measurable objectives and success criteria.
- Tracks event performance, including pre-event promotions and post-event evaluations, to analyze ROI and report on the full cost vs ROI per event.
- Continuously reports on plans, recommendations, and results to the Marketing team and senior leadership.
Content Repurposing & Global Alignment:
- Repurposes and repackages content to create “events/campaigns in a box” that can be deployed across different regions, verticals, and lines of business.
- Maintains a solid understanding of how events and campaigns align with the overall marketing and communications strategy of a global organization.
About you
Education and Experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in event marketing, field marketing, demand gen or campaign marketing role in a B2B organisation (preferably large global).
- Marketing automation platform experience (Marketo, HubSpot, Eloqua), preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of the sales and marketing funnel, with the ability to align event strategies to different funnel stages.
- Experience with Teams Live Events, Zoom webinars, and Vimeo streaming.
- Experience with CRM systems, particularly Salesforce, to track leads and measure event-driven revenue impact.
- Experience with Cvent would be a bonus.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale events with complex logistics.
- Strong understanding of B2B marketing strategies and lead generation.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple events simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; ability to speak French and/or German is a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to travel 15% of time for event production and coordination.
- Knowledge of best practices in B2B demand generation, lead nurturing and lead conversion.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and challenges and meet tight deadlines.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able to interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
