What You’ll Be Doing

As the Manager, AML Analytics you will be responsible for researching, understanding and implementing changes to rules/scenarios within the transaction monitoring system. The individual will also be responsible to identify and solution false positive reductions strategies. The strategies will include innovative rule tuning or building advanced analytical solutions. As such, this role includes the responsibility for the full documentation of any changes to rules/alert thresholds and/or to the risk environment. The Manager is required to work closely with the Senior Manager and Director, AML Strategy, Insights & Analytics.  Based on their specialized knowledge and expertise, the Manager, AML Rules Effectiveness  will work to ensure that CIBC’s AML transaction monitoring framework and rules are effective in mitigating enterprise-wide AML/ATF risk.  This role will also be required to support/participate in data quality efforts and the expansion of transaction monitoring coverage to new product types.

How you’ll succeed

  • AML Expertise – You will possesses current knowledge of AML regulations in relevant jurisdictions. You will know AML principles emanating from competent bodies, such as FATF, OFAC, law enforcement guidelines, internal intelligence, and accrued operational experience. Implements effective rules/scenarios and alert thresholds for transaction monitoring.

  • Data Analytics – Capture relevant alert and case data, test, tune and simulate rules in a dedicated tuning environment; as well as, capturing data at the alert level (false positives etc.) from investigations to inform the tuning process. You will have advanced technical skills and a comprehensive understanding of modern IT architecture, databases and data warehousing is an asset.

  • Relationship Management – You have strong relationship management skills, including communications, persuading, and influencing skills. You will Manage relationships with technology partners and external vendors to ensure the systems supporting the program are operating effectively and efficiently.

  • You can demonstrate experience in knowledge of advanced Excel functionality including pivot tables and charts, string manipulation, lookups, and filters. Proficiency with statistical and computer software, or other analytical tools such as SAS, Python, R, SQL, Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point, knowledge in UNIX or PC environment for modeling.
