Job description


SUMMARY

Performs moderately advanced benefits program administration and assistance work. Work involves coordinating and performing the determination of benefits eligibility and the processing of applications for benefits, providing guidance to Benefit Coordinators with benefits program inquiries. May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Works under moderate supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

The ideal candidate for this position will enjoy interacting with people, have strong problem-solving skills, enjoy working in a structured environment, have a good understanding of employee benefits, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Answers incoming phone calls and emails from Benefit and Billing Coordinators regarding benefit administration, eligibility, billing, and any other questions regarding employee benefits
  • Enters changes and terminations of employee and dependent benefits including life insurance coverage, demographics, beneficiary information, Section 125 or CDHP changes
  • Guide and mentor Benefit Coordinators regarding TML Health benefit administration processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Proactively reach out to Benefit Coordinators to discuss ongoing benefits trends related to individual group benefit administration challenges.
  • May serve as a backup to other team functions.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of benefit terminology and TML Health benefits design.
  • Strong knowledge of eligibility requirements including Section 125 rules.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and billing and enrollment software
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing complex benefits administration subjects
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of TML Health Benefits design and eligibility rules.
  • Ability to work in team environment and perform multi-task job functions.

•    Ability to convey a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.

•    Self-motivated to fulfil tasks and meet deadlines.

•    Ability to effectively work within rapidly changing circumstances as needed.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required 

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, insurance, or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Experience working in a service-oriented position, where customer satisfaction is a key performance indicator.
