This is our SEO Consultant role for those who value interaction with customers, understand risk management, and can streamline chaotic processes in a couple of meetings.
Tasks in the role
Working in conjunction with our sales team, you will be required to:
- Audit potential clients to identify SEO strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
- Use these insights to inform our sales team & contribute to pitch decks
- Join pitches with prospective clients
- Assist sales in building SEO roadmaps & pricing up projects accordingly for successful pitches
- Produce sales materials (decks, discovery questions, case studies, etc.)
Working in conjunction with our Customer Success team, you will be required to:
- Assess client websites & develop SEO strategies to bring the greatest value to the client's business (encompassing all areas of SEO—technical, content, local, international, etc.)
- Project manage client accounts, running comms such as weekly calls/QBRs/monthly reporting sessions as required by the client
- Ensure SEO projects are prioritized, & facilitated where required (writing JIRA tickets, building processes, etc.)
- Producing SEO deliverables in line with the overarching SEO strategy, e.g., technical auditing, content auditing, monthly reports, traffic drop analysis, implementation impact reviews, etc.
- Audit existing software-only clients to identify opportunities for SEO consultancy (both upselling consultancy packages & utilizing existing consultancy credits)
- Educate the Customer Success team so they are able to independently identify opportunities for consultancy
- Provide industry insights (e.g. algorithm updates) to the Customer Success team to provide them with upselling talking points for clients
Working in conjunction with our Customer Success team, you will facilitate the delivery of work to our clients from our freelancer database. You will be required to:
- Create briefs & brief out SEO projects from our clients to freelancers
- Manage communications between our clients and freelancers
- Project manage, ensuring freelancer work is delivered to clients on schedule
- QA of freelancer deliverables, ensuring they meet the brief and are representative of Semrush's quality of service
Who we are looking for
- 5+ years of proven experience as an SEO consultant covering all pillars of SEO
- Proven experience running large SEO accounts, ideally within a digital agency or as part of a large in-house digital team
- Proven experience pitching SEO services & responding to RFPs
- Organizational & project management skills
- Problem-solving abilities & a proactive approach to tasks
- Team player mindset
Not required, but a plus
- Experience of working with B2B companies

Semrush Enterprise offers client services to support the implementation and usage of Semrush Enterprise products. The reason is simple. The weakest link to SEO success is the people executing SEO on the client side. No matter how good our software solutions are, in the Enterprise world, client services are instrumental to driving SEO success. Semrush has deferred to agencies to do this work, but for Enterprise organizations, we will build the foundation and collaborate with customers end-to-end and also with agencies. Semrush Enterprise is not an agency, nor do we sell agency services. Our intrinsic motivation is the success of our customers. The team of SEO consultants that we are building needs to be top-notch, like a McKinsey type of quality. We don’t scale through more people; we scale through better processes and outputs. That means all the SEO consultants we employ need to have a lot of experience, passion, and motivation. For this particular role, we might seek someone who can build and lead the team going forward; that’s why the tasks can vary between working with clients and building the team.
