Description

General Description:

This is a full-time, non-exempt, office position at GMR’s headquarters in Heath, TX. The position falls under GMR’s

Design Team and reports to the Director of Lighting. The position has daily responsibilities that include but are not limited to the processing of raw scan data and creating three-dimensional Revit based drawings for use in two primary product lines. In one product line, the designer adds architectural details based upon drawings, photos and scans to create As-built plan sets of varying degrees of detail. In the other product line the designer uses the three-dimensional drawing to create a lighting design solution using Revit software and utilizing integrated lighting design software. Other responsibilities may include performing energy related lighting retrofit projects or support of engineering staff in the design and/or production of engineering plans. As we are regularly creating new types of products, being open to the support and development of new products and processes is essential. The Revit Designer must be able to meet daily deliverable deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy. This position is responsible for working within defined due dates for multiple assigned tasks concurrently and must be able to prioritize as necessary while keeping up with assigned volumes. The Revit Designer must be able to communicate with co-workers and clients efficiently and effectively both in person and while working remotely to ensure assignments and responsibilities will be completed in a timely manner.

  • A basic understanding of lighting and lighting design processes.
  • Comfortable reviewing and implementing technical requirements as dictated by state and local jurisdiction ordinances.
  • Understanding of construction processes and workflow.
  • Good organizational skills and self-discipline.
  • Desire and ability to achieve the quality standards set forth for each product.
  • Assisting other team members with projects or assignments as needed.
  • A working knowledge of or experience with interior or exterior lighting, lighting design, architectural drawings or plans, energy projects or programs focused on lighting or any other background associated with the support of engineering using AutoCad, Revit or Agi32 software.

Software Requirements:

  • Revit, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer/Chrome,
  • Online mapping/photograph software
  • Other desirable software experience - AutoCAD, AGi32 and/or Visual Lighting Software, Nitro PDF, Smart Sheet, Nintex K2 or other automation software, Dynamo or Elum tools add-in for Revit.
