Position Summary
The Manager of Accounting will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting and transactions. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations that contribute to strategic decision-making.
Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Delegate tasks effectively to ensure the team meets deadlines and maintains high-quality work standards.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of transactions and account reconciliations.
- Implement and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Month-end and Year-end Close:
- Coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reporting tasks.
- Prepare and review journal entries, adjusting entries, and accruals to reflect accurate financial data.
Financial Compliance:
- Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the company's financial practices remain in compliance with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits and reviews.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes and procedures to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for automation and system enhancements to streamline financial operations.
Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow forecasting, ensuring the availability of funds for operational needs and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts to maintain accurate cash records.
Technical Expertise:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in accounting principles and practices, providing guidance to the team and other departments as needed.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting: Ability to be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Lifting: Ability to lift equipment and or tools up to 20 pounds.
