TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR BiH PRO BONO LEGAL SPECIALIST
SCOPE OF WORK AND DURATION
ABA ROLI is seeking local or international remote PRO BONO Legal Specialists to conduct online mentorship/training sessions with law students and legal professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Selected mentor(s) will be expected to provide services remotely, with the possibility of a targeted trip to Sarajevo, funds permitting. The position is expected to include a minimum of 40 hour mentorship sessions spread out over a period of 20 months.

The mission of ABA ROLI is to promote justice, economic opportunity and human dignity through the rule of law. For more than 30 years in over 100 countries, ABA ROLI has worked to strengthen legal institutions, to support legal professionals, to foster respect for human rights, and to advance public understanding of the law and citizen rights. In collaboration with our in-country partners, we design programs that are responsive to local needs and that prioritize sustainable solutions to pressing rule of law challenges.
ABA ROLI’s Legal Specialists will provide Pro Bono legal education support by conducting online mentoring/training sessions. The purpose of the sessions are to address the needs of law students and young legal professionals.
DELIVERABLES/EXPECTATIONS
1. Provide online mentoring/training sessions to law students and young legal professionals
2. Provide ongoing guidance and support to beneficiaries via email, phone, etc
3. Provide feedback to the ABA team on the progress and activities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience. Significant experience conducting mentoring/training sessions for law students or legal professionals.
· Law Degree, or Juris Doctorate degree equivalent
· Prior experience working in a multi-cultural environment. Experience working in Eastern European countries is preferred.
· Proficiency in the use of Zoom and other secure online meeting platforms to lead online training sessions.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Interest in and commitment to the rule of law.
