Title: Financial Analyst
Department: Finance
Salary Range: $80k-90k CAD
Location: Remote (Candidates based in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia or willing to relocate)

Description: 

WES is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to support the FP&A function. The successful candidate will work closely with the FP&A Manager to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and provide insights that drive strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, a strong understanding of financial modeling, and excellent analytical skills.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with various departments to gather and analyze data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize SQL to extract and analyze data from various databases.
  • Support the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process.
  • Work with other departments to prepare budgets; periodically analyze actual results versus budget and monitor variances.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
  • Assist with new product development by providing detailed financial analysis and ROI.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial planning and analysis.
  • Increase productivity by developing automated financial reports; coordinate information requirements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced financial modeling and data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis is required.
  • Experience with financial planning software and ERP systems (e.g., Vena, Sage, SAP) is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Post-graduate degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA), or working toward one is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization software is a plus.
  • Passion for working in a value-based and mission-driven company.
  • Ability to present options to senior management, some of whom may have limited financial knowledge, in a clear and objective manner; effective use of influence skills as needed.
  • Contribute strong problem-solving skills and a passion for process improvement
  • Self-motivated person who can work independently.
  • Financial skills including financial planning, financial modeling, cost accounting, ROI analysis and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to distill information, build fact-based insights, and ability to clearly communicate recommendations (both verbally and written).
  • Strong attention to detail and very strong organizational skills.
  • Strong team worker; collaborative.
  • Strong work ethic, responsible and accountable.
