Job description

Guardian is seeking an experienced and motivated Actuary to join Guardian’s Annuity Pricing Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the pricing, development and NBV reporting for both existing and new individual and group annuity products. This position requires a highly analytical and technically proficient individual who can drive pricing strategies and contribute to the development and enhancement of actuarial models. This is a visible role that involves collaboration with multiple areas, including product development, valuation, finance, hedging, reinsurance, IT, legal, and corporate actuarial.

You are:

An actuary with a passion for pricing and economic analysis and the ability to communicate effectively to a wider audience. You are skilled at applying actuarial principles, logic, and business knowledge to solve complex problems.

You have:

  • FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferably in areas such as pricing, ALM, EC or CFT modeling and reporting
  • Knowledge of individual or group annuity products, such as Fixed Income Annuities, MYGA, FIA, RILA or group in-plan annuity solutions, a plus
  • Experience with asset and liability modeling using GGY AXIS or other actuarial modeling platforms highly desirable
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python and VBA a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead multiple projects in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

You will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support pricing strategy and NBV reporting for existing and future annuity products.
  • Conduct detailed actuarial analysis and modeling to ensure accurate and competitive pricing structures.
  • Assist in the development and validation of actuarial models, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Lead or contribute to projects related to new product development and enhancements to existing annuity models and offerings.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise on pricing assumptions, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align pricing strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and provide actuarial support to cross-functional teams
  • Communicate the results to senior leaders through well-organized and documented spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, memos, and emails

Reporting Relationships:

You will report to the Lead Actuary heading Annuity Pricing, who reports to Guardian’s Head of Life Insurance and Annuity Solutions.

Location and Work Arrangement:

  • The primary location for this position is New York, NY.
  • The work arrangement is hybrid, with at least 2 days per week in the local Guardian office

Travel:

  • Minimal travel associated with this position (less than 5%)

Salary Range
$148,940.00 - $244,685.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
