Who we are looking for

The State Street Bank International GmbH Compliance team seeks a Compliance Vice President to support the oversight of and provide advice and guidance related to the suite of products & services provided by the Bank mainly for the Institutional Services (IS), Global Delivery (GD), Global Markets (GM), Global Treasury (GT) and Global Credit Finance (GCF) divisions. The main responsibility is to assist in delivering regulatory advice for these business units in Germany.

The role can be performed in a hybrid model from Munich or Frankfurt office.

What you will be responsible for

As a Regulatory Change Compliance Manager, Vice President you will:

  • Monitor assigned regulatory bodies for regulatory changes potentially impacting the business lines on SSBI level

  • Carry out the initial triage of the potential regulatory change and inform the relevant SLOD and FLOD; and support the completion of the risk impact assessment.

  • Assist in developing the regulatory change management staff to build subject matter expertise.

  • Support communication to inform business units of regulatory developments and policy changes

  • Support communication and impact assessment in regulatory changes of SSBI Branches and other business lines in core and embedded area.

  • Provide support to the Compliance team in the analysis and interpretation of policies and regulations as it aligns with the corresponding business units. This includes new regulations being implemented that affect the business units.

  • Provide regulatory advice in the Compliance related supervisory law (Germany and EU).

  • Provide challenge to the business in regard to regulatory adherence; this includes communication of required corrective actions to senior management.  

  • Be responsible for support in drafting and maintaining policies and procedures, as well as corresponding training.

  • Deal with general regulatory queries from staff.

  • Work on Business Line and/or Compliance related projects as assigned.

  • Provide regulatory support to State Street Bank International GmbH´s  Compliance network with regard to the impact of EU legislation.

  • Identify and report all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the other Compliance staff members globally

  • Cultivate effective relationships with internal business partners to successfully achieve organizational goals

  • Identify real-time process improvements and suggest resolutions where needed

  • Perform other duties as required

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Fully qualified German lawyer or comparable education.

  • Minimum 9+ years’ experience in financial services preferably within a compliance function, legal department or advisory/audit firm.

  • Have a strong understanding of policies, procedures and controls.

  • Demonstrate an excellent recognized subject matter expert understanding of German and European requirements including amongst others KWG, MaRisk, MaComp, MiFID, MAR, SFDR, SFTR and other applicable laws, rules and regulations.

  • Ability to make independent decisions, develop creative solutions to problems and manage implementation through to acceptance.

  • Assume ownership for the delivery of projects while also operating successfully in a cross-functional team environment.
