The Opportunity...
The Senior Commercial Project Manager will play a key role in the development, implementation, and management of rooftop and ground mounted projects in the 25 kW-10 MW range. The Senior Commercial Project Manager will work directly with the Commercial General Manager to support community solar and commercial projects, with responsibilities from post-contract to closeout and additional touch points in development stages as well. They will generally be an internal go-to resource for guidance and questions regarding community solar and commercial-scale project management and operations.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage all aspects of the commercial/multifamily and community solar project lifecycles (contract to close-out) to ensure profitability and compliance with contracts and negotiated agreements. This includes: oversight of budget and timelines, management of client, stakeholder, and contractor relationships, engineering and permitting, procurement, staffing and scheduling, interconnection, incentives, and close-out processes.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of community solar projects from inception to completion.
- Identify suitable land parcels within designated districts for solar development.
- Negotiate lease agreements with landowners or stakeholders for the use of land for solar projects.
- Manage the permitting process for community solar projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Perform site assessments including environmental, geological, and engineering evaluations to determine project feasibility.
- Assist with performance analysis of cost actuals metrics and trends to support headquarters and regional budgeting, resource allocation and planning

What You Bring To This Role..
- Experience with the project management of commercial and community solar projects ranging from 25 kW-10 MW.
- Experience managing vendors and negotiating contracts
- Familiarity with navigating regulatory processes and obtaining necessary approvals for solar projects.
- Experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community members, regulatory bodies, utilities, and contractors.
- Fundamental understanding of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including design principles, installation practices, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Proficiency with Salesforce.com or other CRM database systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey project updates, technical information, and engage stakeholders.
- Experience with MS Project or other project/construction management platforms
Where you will sit and the places you may go…
This position is remote and may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band
($90k-$105k annually), plus the benefits below.
