Pay Range: $65,266-106,850.00 annually

Job Description: Your Piece of the Puzzle

As NFM’s Data Scientist you will utilize data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and build high quality prediction systems integrated with our products to support Nebraska Furniture Mart Marketing operations, sales and leadership.

This is a remote position requiring the candidate to reside in one of the following states: NE, IA, MO, KS or TX.

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

  • Unravel: Verify the integrity of data used for analyzing and engineering data features for building and optimizing machine learning models
  • Be Precise: Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building
  • Be the Expert: Identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions by proposing solutions and strategies to business challenges: Utilize predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes
  • Play Your Part: Report information using data visualization techniques and performing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

Qualifications: Can You Check These Boxes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field required. Master Degree preferred
  • Excellent understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and algorithms: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc
  • Experience with common data science and statistical toolkits and platforms, to include R, Weka, Python, SPSS and SAS
  • Strong applied math skills in a variety of areas, namely statistics and liner algebra
  • Familiarity with operations research and optimization techniques
  • Experience with professional data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau, QlikView, PowerBI
  • Proven experience using data visualization tools such as D3.js, GGplot, and Matplotlib
  • Proficiency in using SQL
  • Understanding of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase
  • Exposure to cloud-based analytical and data engineering services in Azure, AWS or Cloudera
  • Excellent applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, Powershell, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, etc
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and/or early morning hours based on business needs
