Role Summary

The Maintenance Tech II is responsible for performing, with minimal guidance, audits, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated material handling system components within the Fulfillment Center. The Maintenance Tech II represents and follows outlined company guidelines for general work practices and performs assigned duties in accordance with proper safe work practices. The Maintenance Tech II takes initiative to coordinate maintenance activities to ensure the safe and satisfactory completion of all tasks. The Maintenance Tech II will assist the Maintenance Tech III with the product flow and operational goals to effectively support the Fulfillment Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists other technicians and/or mechanics in the repair and maintenance of equipment, diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings and diagnostic tools.
  • Responsible for performing, independently or with minimal guidance, audits, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated material handling system components within the Fulfillment Center.
  • Must have experience with 3 phase systems up to 480VAC including repair, installation and maintenance.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment according to safety and quality procedures.
  • Provides resolutions to mechanical, technical/controls issues.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs key components for the Fulfillment Center
  • Participates in cleaning the conveyor systems and maintenance area as appropriate
  • Completes work orders, other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures.
  • Working at heights of 40ft or more will be required.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of company supplied tools.
  • Must be willing and able to be certified on powered industrial equipment.
  • Performs general facility maintenance such as light bulb replacement, office furniture relocation, plumbing, electrical repairs, etc.
  • Other duties as instructed by supervision/management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Will also consider experience and/or military service.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in mechanical troubleshooting, technical troubleshooting, maintenance and/or installation is required.
  • Adept at analyzing and resolving mechanical and technical issues.
  • Excellent hand and eye coordination skills
  • Ability to read, recognize, write, and follow applicable numbers and directives (verbal and written) in English
  • Command of basic math skills to ensure accurate inventory
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends as necessary
  • Command of safety procedures (including lock-out/tag-out)
  • Frequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing, pulling of freight, standing for long periods of time
  • Sometimes working in extreme temperatures
  • Safely utilize manual and electronic operated equipment to transport cartons or other items by means of pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying
  • Strong electrical background, knowledge of low voltage controls and PLC. Required prior experience and/or working knowledge of:
  • Conveyor and/or sortation
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting solid electrical troubleshooting solid controls troubleshooting
  • Preventative/predictive maintenance modification and upgrade support Installation.
  • AAS in an Engineering related field or experience in lieu of degree
  • Certificate(s)/License(s) in related fields such as Journeymen or Master Electrician, CMRP and/or CMRT, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and external input/output (I/O) devices.
  • CMMS experience.
  • Preferred prior experience and/or working knowledge of Allen Bradley and/or Siemens products.
  • Network troubleshooting a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience working with and managing outside vendors, customers, and business partners
  • Prior working knowledge of current building vendors, software, platforms, and systems desired
  • Previous industry-based experience.
