Job Overview

Join our dedicated team at Compass Health Network as a Community Support Specialist, where your expertise will play a crucial role in delivering compassionate and quality care to the communities we serve. We are excited to offer a \(500 sign-on bonus, with an additional \)500 for Qualified Mental Health Professionals, as we seek individuals committed to making a meaningful impact.

This full-time position is benefit-eligible and involves working Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, with a rotating Saturday shift (10:00 am - 2:00 pm) every five weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and group educational services using a motivational, stage-matched approach based on clients’ strengths and needs.
  • Collaborate with clients and their families to develop and implement Wellness Plans, focusing on recovery and resiliency goals.
  • Offer holistic support by addressing all Eight Dimensions of Wellness, ensuring clients meet their personal objectives.
  • Assist clients in accessing essential public services, including financial, housing, and emergency assistance.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients during hospitalization, participating in discharge planning and aftercare coordination.
  • Educate clients in various life skills, promoting independence and facilitating connections to community resources.
  • Engage clients with unexcused absences to re-establish their commitment to recovery.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely completion of required paperwork.
  • Collect and process urine drug screens as part of client monitoring.

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver individualized and group education services effectively.
  • Proficient in motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Understanding of substance abuse and mental health challenges.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within an integrated health team.
  • Valid driver’s license and agency-required minimum automobile coverage.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field is preferred.
  • Experience requirements vary based on education level:
    • Four (4) years of experience if High School/GED is the highest education obtained.
    • Two (2) years of experience if an Associate’s degree is the highest education obtained.
    • One (1) year of experience if a non-human service Bachelor’s degree is the highest education obtained.
  • All experience must include work with individuals facing psychiatric, substance use, and/or developmental disabilities.
