Job Description

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Poland, the Netherlands, or Germany. Candidates must have the right to work in these countries.

We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Sustainability Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in areas such as ESG reporting, ESG KPI tracking and measurement, ESG Process and Change Management, GHG emissions inventory development and decarbonization strategies.

As a Sustainability Consultant, you will work closely with clients to develop and implement programs that promote robust and transparent measurement and management of GHG emissions.

You will conduct thorough assessments of current overall ESG practices, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations. Your role will also involve educating and training staff on reporting practices and staying up-to-date with the latest sustainability trends and regulations. This position requires excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and ability to work under pressure in busy periods.

You will build long term relationships with customers from different industries and different regions

Responsibilities

  • Works independently, requiring only moderate guidance from senior colleagues to deliver results.
  • Supports the preparation of analysis and client-facing materials for both internal/UL teams and external client teams.
  • Supports the communication of information to clients, peers, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Supports business development efforts by aiding the definition of Statements of Work (SOWs) and development of budgetary estimates for client proposals.
  • Supports client engagements by interacting regularly with clients in project meetings, addressing client concerns, and resolving client issues.
  • May represent UL in technical and industry events, including publication of articles, presentation of findings, and dissemination of knowledge to the technical community, with the help and support of more senior colleagues within the wider organization.
  • Actively continues to expand knowledge of relevant UL processes, services, customers, etc.
  • Integrates continuous improvement and safety culture in all aspects of the job.
  • Reads and follows the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and adheres to all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a consulting-relevant field such as environmental management, energy management, built environment, engineering, sustainability.
  • 3 or more years of experience required.
  • Proficient in handling large data volumes.
  • Strong Excel skills for efficient data management.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identifying patterns and anomalies.
  • Engineering or science background due to the technical nature of the work.
  • Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
