About the Role
The Vice President, Partnerships and Alliances – Tax & Accounting Professionals will be part of the leadership team and play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships within our Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting Professionals segment. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy and supporting adoption of our Tax & Accounting content and technology solutions within the Tax & Accounting Professionals market. This executive leader will identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with key partners including Tax & Accounting firms, Tax & Accounting associations, technology providers, and other strategic allies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building successful partner ecosystems and alliance programs within the Tax & Accounting, professional services or technology industries.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a robust partnerships and alliances strategy aligned with the Legal Professionals segment’s overall business goals, objectives, and vision.
- Identify, prioritize, and pursue potential partners and opportunities, including technology vendors, consulting firms, legal associations, and other strategic alliances.
Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all partnership-related activities and manage day-today interactions with partners.
Business Development:
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to identify and leverage partnership opportunities to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of potential partners, conducting market research, competitor analysis, and due diligence to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Develop joint marketing and sales initiatives with partners to increase brand awareness and generate leads.
Negotiation and Agreements:
- Lead negotiations and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms and alignment with company objectives.
- Manage the full lifecycle of partnerships from initial outreach through execution of partnership agreements, launch, and ongoing governance to ensure compliance with agreed-upon terms.
Performance Monitoring:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of partnership initiatives. Including rules of engagement and success metrics.
- Monitor and analyze partnership performance, providing regular reports and insights to the executive team.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, legal, and customer success, to ensure seamless integration and execution of partnership initiatives.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the partnerships team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Location
The successful candidates will ideally be based in one of our hub locations in Minneapolis, Dallas, New York or Toronto and work in a hybrid environment, spending a minimum of 3 days per week in office. We are open to a remote work arrangement for the right candidate.
About You
The ideal candidate for the VP, Partnerships & Alliances – Tax & Accounting Professionals role will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Accounting/Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years' experience in partnerships, alliances, business development or related roles, preferably within Tax & Accounting, professional services or enterprise software.
- 10+ years of team leadership and management, including executive-level engagement.
- Strong customer-facing skills.
- Proven ability to build and scale successful partner programs that drive revenue growth.
- Strategic innovative thinker with strong business acumen and ability to execute tactically and independently drive initiatives to completion.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience structuring complex partnership agreements.
- Proven experience in leveraging AI to forecast market changes, evaluate partner stability, and predict partnership success. Demonstrated ability to analyze market trends and financial data to make informed decisions that enhance profitability and sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify, pursue, and expand strategic partnership opportunities, including successful management of internal stakeholders to drive change.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and achieving goals, effectively engaging internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for initiatives.
- Exceptional relationship management, communication and executive presence.
- Expertise in SaaS business models, sales processes and Tax & Accounting technology solutions and overall strong digital literacy.
- Demonstrated global leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Thorough knowledge of trends impacting the market and the needs of these customers. Strong network building in the industry and strategic partnering.
- Skilled at conflict resolution and problem-solving to achieve win-win outcomes.
- Familiarity with partnership management tools, such as partnership relationship management (PRM) software.
- Resourceful and highly organized self-starter with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and operate successfully in a complex, dynamic, fast paced, highly collaborative, and continuously evolving environment.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Additional preferred qualifications include:
- JD or Tax & Accounting industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong network and relationships within the Tax & Accounting industry; including Tax/Accounting firms, Tax & Accounting organizations, and industry partners.
- Experience with Tax & Accounting technology or software companies, particularly those serving Tax & Accounting firms and the Tax & Accounting industry.

The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following metro locations: Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $206,400 - $383,200. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following states: CA, CO, CT, IL, NV, TX, WA and/or remote. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $187,600 - $348,400. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
