Project Summary

The purpose of Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA) is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical M&E knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes. Assistance for Families and Indigent Afghans to Thrive (AFIAT) aims to improve health outcomes for the Afghan people, particularly for women of childbearing age and children under five years of age in rural and peri-urban parts of the country.

Position Summary

The AFIAT Junior Evaluation Specialist will work under the oversight of the AMELA technical team. The Specialist will assist the Team Lead and evaluation on any tasks assigned, but will focus on data analysis, and contribute to the drafting of the analytical products to be delivered under the scope of work (SOW). The estimated level of effort for this position is up to 20 days.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of data collection tools.
  • Assist in any training and testing in preparation for the data collection.
  • Assist the Evaluation Specialist and Team Lead as needed, in particular during the data analysis phase.
  • Conduct data analysis.
  • Contribute to the drafting of deliverables and analytical products as directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in conducting evaluations and/or research in the health sector or social science field is required.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Strong written and oral language skills in English required.
