Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Controls Engineer within our corporate Process Control Center of Excellence team. This position will primarily focus on supporting and improving control systems and automation in our Corrugated manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will leverage their engineering expertise to solve problems, enhance the reliability and functionality of existing control systems, and contribute to the design and installation of new systems.

This will be a remote home-based position with travel of up to 40%.

Our Team

In this role, you will travel to various mills across the US and assist with Process Control optimization strategies.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure the facility's control systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for manufacturing operations across multiple facilities.
  • Guide manufacturing operations on the selection and implementation of process control technologies.
  • Design, program, modify, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  • Pursue engineering solutions to resolve equipment deficiencies.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Technical/Vocational degree, or an Associate’s Degree or higher.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Process Control/Automation with a focus on PLCs, including troubleshooting, configuration, and HMI design.
  • Ability to travel to facilities for onsite support (up to 40%).


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working within a Corrugated operation.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Bosch Rexroth), Fanuc Robots.
  • Hands-on programming experience and hardware management in industrial process control platforms.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and ProfNet.
  • Experience with 3-phase motor controls, 480V A/C systems, low voltage D/C systems, and Drives.
  • Experience working with multiple vintages of PLC platforms.
  • Understanding of Cyber Security, ISA 99, IEC 62443, the Purdue Model, and firewalls


For this role, we anticipate paying $110K - $145K.
