Job Description:

General Information:

We are looking for a skilled IT/OT Solution Architect specializing in machine connectivity and shop floor devices. This role will focus on designing and implementing integrated solutions that enhance connectivity between manufacturing equipment and IT systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), enabling seamless data flow and improved operational efficiency on the shop floor.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Architecture Design:
  • Develop and maintain the architectural framework for machine connectivity and shop floor devices, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with industry standards.
  • Integration Solutions:
  • Design and implement solutions that connect industrial machines (such as PLCs, sensors, and IoT devices) to IT systems (such as MES, ERP, and data analytics platforms) to enable real-time data exchange.
  • Connectivity Standards:
  • Establish and enforce connectivity standards and protocols for shop floor devices to ensure interoperability and data integrity.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with production teams, IT, engineering, and external vendors to understand requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions that enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Technology Assessment:
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies related to machine connectivity, IoT, and automation that can optimize shop floor operations.
  • Security Management:
  • Implement security measures such as network segmentation to protect data and systems, ensuring the safe operation of connected devices and compliance with Hitachi Energy’s Cybersecurity regulations.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation, including system diagrams, data flow charts, and integration specifications.
  • Project Management:
  • Lead projects from conception to deployment, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder communications to ensure successful implementation.
  • Troubleshooting:
  • Provide expert support for resolving connectivity issues between machines and IT systems, leveraging both IT and OT knowledge.

Your Background:

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT/OT solution architecture focusing on machine connectivity and shop floor devices.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and IoT frameworks.
  • Familiarity with networking principles and cybersecurity best practices in an industrial context.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
