The Role and Team
The Testing Infrastructure Engineering Team within the Quality Organization at Medallia is looking for a world class Engineering Manager to design, drive and own the testing delivery infrastructure of various Medallia platforms and self-service products. As an Engineering Manager, not only will they lead a team of highly motivated individuals but also, their role is critical in driving the quality and efficiency of our software delivery pipelines.
As owner of the quality infrastructure lifecycle, they will work with the various Medallia R&D teams along the SDLC: Product Design and Development, Release Management, Continuous Delivery, SRE, Production and Managed Services to design, influence and execute on development and delivery processes and strategies. This position involves regular communication with the various levels of the organization. Therefore, excellent communication skills and strong technical competency are essential.
The ideal candidate has thrived and succeeded in delivering and maintaining high available infrastructure and services across various platforms and technologies, is well versed on CI/CD practices and will have a deep understanding on cloud technologies. They can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the Testing Infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Develop and maintain tools and processes for efficient test execution and test environment provisioning.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the test infrastructure.
- Implement strategies to improve test execution time and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize their CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with stakeholders across different organizations to effectively align against goals, roadmap, and commitments.
- Help the development teams to architect quality tools for next level of scale and execute on their development plans
- Measure project progress using KPI(s) and Metrics and communicate plans and updates on a frequent basis.
- Build a high-performing team. Hire the very best and provide opportunities for team members to grow and prosper.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience directly managing people in a front-line role.
- 10+ years experience in a technical role working on distributed systems, test infrastructure, and/or cloud services.
- 1+ years of experience working in a global company with geographically distributed teams.
- Demonstrated experience in managing CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab CI/CD.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Managers that have grown from a technical background into people leadership.
- Experience managing the software development lifecycle using agile methodologies.
- 5+ years of experience with Java.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) and/or configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform).
- Demonstrated experience with AWS, Docker & Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated experience with testing frameworks and tools.
- Implemented tools and frameworks to enable monitoring, logging, alerting, and debugging at scale.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, mid-stage startup.
