Job description

As the Senior Technical Product Manager focused on learning applications at Bezos Academy, you are a mission-driven individual who is passionate about creating solutions to increase access to high-quality early childhood education. Collaborating closely with researchers, early childhood experts, children’s media creators, and our engineering and education teams, you will identify child and educator needs, develop product requirements, manage project plans, and launch and iterate new products that enable teachers and families to cultivate the growth and curiosity of young children. Your portfolio of products will evolve as we learn from our customers; to start, it will range from game-based assessments for children to classroom tools for teachers to school-home communications for families.

You have a track record of delivering products that solve human problems. You thrive in start-up environments. You love to learn. You know how to partner with subject matter experts to invent new products that build on best practice while forging new ground. Above all, you are inspired by our mission to expand access to high quality preschool in under-resourced communities and motivated to pioneer the space where technology and Montessori-inspired preschool converge.

LOCATION

  • Flexible in the United States; Washington, Texas, or Florida within 1 hour’s drive of a Bezos Academy preschool is preferred (please see our website for school locations)
  • Relocation support is available for those able to move to Seattle, Washington.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position.
  • The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $137,000 - $273,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for employees who have been in the role for multiple years and have demonstrated strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by qualifications and prior experience.
  • This role includes 15 paid days of vacation, 4 days of paid personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 9 paid holidays, 5 paid days off for an organization-wide winter break, and additional time off if required by applicable law. Benefits for this role include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with a 4% employer contribution match, paid parental leave, an employer-matched flexible spending account for dependent care, and more. Please see here for details.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eight or more years of product management or educational product development experience, which includes digital products
  • Track record of delivering innovative, customer-centric products from the ground up with meaningful results
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering, design, and other technical partners to solve customer needs while making critical trade-off decisions (e.g., competing customer goals, constraints)
  • Project management experience leading subject matters experts (such as researchers, educational experts, or assessment developers) to define and launch new products
  • Experience owning product roadmaps and functional specifications, conducting customer research, driving user testing, and making critical decisions on trade-offs between features and time-to-market
  • Superior communication and analytical skills, including strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous and/or technical problems and then convey key info back to diverse (and non-technical) audiences
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in early childhood product development (e.g., digital assessments, learning games, classroom tools) and owning digital educational products that delight families, children, and their teachers
  • Experience with web and/or mobile app design and development
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research and analytic methods
  • Passion for building and inventing products on behalf of end users
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience delivering software on time
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage complex projects to successful launch
  • Experience managing partners, contractors, or a small team
