Job description

This is a remote position.

The Sales Manager will lead the full cycle of prospecting, sales, planning, and executing exhibiting and sponsorship opportunities for in-person and virtual programs, while also providing support to other exhibit/vendor-related needs of the Society. Your strategic insight will be key to improving sales plans, maximizing opportunities, and collaborating with relevant groups including our client's team, the Board of Directors, and committees in order to grow opportunities for revenue and sponsor/exhibit engagement. By managing the exhibit sales process, you will lead resources development including exhibit space floor plans, rules and policies, service kits, and development of the exhibitor prospectus. With the Executive Director and other members of the team, you will develop and sell sponsorship opportunities to new and existing sponsors. It is also expected that you will develop new opportunities for revenue that provide value to both our client and their existing and potential partners. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all exhibiting and sponsorship offerings, including pricing, benefits, and opportunities for company/attendee engagement.
  • Set a timeline and manage all aspects of exhibitor and sponsor-related sales and service activities within the suite of in person and virtual meetings.
  • Establish and cultivate new relationships to grow the sales pipeline and exceed revenue goals. Identify new business opportunities, including partnerships and collaborations, to expand market presence.
  • Communicate with current and potential exhibitors and sponsors from beginning of sales process to collection and deployment of deliverables and post-event communications.
  • Collaborate with staff on developing strategies to increase booth and sponsorship sales.
  • Examine and create new opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Create and deploy exhibit and sponsorship collateral including the Exhibitor Prospectus, Service Kit, Sponsorship Brochure, Agreements/Contracts, and Exhibit Buyers Guide.
  • Collaborate with program managers on exhibit space floorplans.
  • Review and approval of exhibitor registration form.
  • With our marketing team, develop a schedule of targeted marketing emails and social media plans.
  • With our finance team, process and issue invoices to exhibitors and partners for booth contracts, sponsorships, and other billable items.
  • Support the exhibitor and sponsor registration processes for all Society meetings including conflict resolution, responses to general inquiries, confirmation and receipt requests, and cancelation and refund.
  • Responsible for developing and presenting sales and survey reports before, during, and post meetings.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually enhance the exhibits, sponsorship and sales strategy.
  • Travel to 3-5 domestic meetings as needed for the Society. Occasional international travel a possibility.


Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in exhibit sales or operations. Experience in a non-profit scientific, medical, or professional society environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work on and complete multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to interact with diverse, international audiences
  • Customer service focused
  • Ability to work independently with a small, virtual team
  • Strong computer skills and an aptitude to learn new programs are required.  Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Zoom.)
  • Proficiency in Impexium, Asana and Slack a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel to three to five meetings each year for the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Sit and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Perform data entry and keyboarding for prolonged periods.
