About the Role

We are seeking an experienced candidate to join our team in London as a Valuations Manager. The successful candidate will oversee the pricing validation of OTC derivatives, listed securities, bonds, and other esoteric products traded by our clients.

The valuations team is a centralised team globally responsible for overseeing the pricing of the positions held in our clients’ portfolios in line with their valuation policy and plays a key role in ensuring integrity of the NAV production. The valuations team also performs valuation control activity.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks and display an aptitude for problem solving. They will assist in the monthly and quarterly tasks in a timely manner, and where necessary escalating valuation issues to Management/client. They will also be required to collaborate with various internal stakeholders on valuation matters and have knowledge on various asset pricing models.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end valuation process across various financial instruments, including OTC derivatives.
  • Oversee the review of P&L queries and monthly valuation reconciliations, analysing and resolving valuation exceptions.
  • Manage the investigation and resolution of pricing and valuation discrepancies for OTC derivatives and securities using internal tools and vendor applications such as Bloomberg and Refinitiv.
  • Ensure timely completion of NAV tasks by managing client deliverables and prioritising deliverables.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external global counterparts (Trade Capture, Fund Accounting, Market Data teams, Clients, Counterparties, and Vendors).
  • Contribute to projects requiring pricing expertise.
  • Lead periodic market data vendor due diligence reviews, track performance metrics, and analyse data nuances.
  • Configure and review the pricing hierarchy and derivative valuation setups in the valuation system, ensuring alignment with the client’s valuation policy.
  • Perform UAT testing for new valuation methodologies for new instrument types and provide feedback to the quantitative development team.
  • Drive innovation by generating new ideas, challenging the status quo, and taking ownership to improve efficiency within the valuations team and maintain a robust valuation control process.

Your Experience

Ideally you will have a strong analytical background with significant experience in valuation or product control across multiple asset classes as well as:

  • Degree in Finance or another numerical discipline, including financial derivative modules.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial instruments such as bonds, interest rate swaps, equity options, FX options, swaptions, etc.
  • Strong understanding of applied mathematics in derivative product valuation.
  • Proven ability to investigate pricing discrepancies between various pricing sources.
  • Excellent organisational skills to see projects from inception through to completion.
  • Skilled at prioritising, organizing, and managing multiple clients/tasks.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex valuation information to a diverse audience in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg is an added advantage.
