The Role

Netflix is one of the world’s leading entertainment services with 278 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Role

The Content Performance and Analytics Enablement Data Science and Engineering team accelerates the delivery of analytics insights to the Content and Marketing organizations, ensuring that the decision makers responsible for spurring conversation and fandom around our brand, films, shows and games have the information they need to make the most informed decisions possible. We do this in a number of ways, but in particular, the embedded side of the team does it through deep partnerships, domain context, and full-stack analytics and science capabilities.

We are seeking an experienced leader in data science and analytics to lead a stunning team of analytics engineers and data scientists who are embedded with business teams in the Marketing organization.  In this fast paced role, you will have the opportunity to partner closely with the business to gain deep domain context critical to helping your team execute on projects that directly impact key decisions made about fueling Netflix’s presence in pop culture and fostering passionate fandoms . You will also be a critical connection point for your team between the breadth of innovative work happening in Data Science and Engineering and how to apply it to solve day-to-day business problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of data professionals with end-to-end responsibilities to deliver analytics solutions to decision makers

  • Hire, inspire, coach and grow a high-performing and inclusive team that serve as trusted partners to the business

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with strategy, business and peer teams within DSE and CI to gain and share context, define and influence roadmaps, and connect the dots for your team so they can execute on high impact projects

  • Provide vision and oversight to your team, ensuring they are delivering value commensurate with the investment Netflix has made in them

The ideal candidate:

  • You have five or more years of people leadership experience, preferably leading a multi-function data team (mix of data engineering, analytics practitioners, data scientists, and machine learning)

  • You have strong technical experience and expertise in end-to-end data practices including data engineering, business intelligence, descriptive and diagnostic analytics, and storytelling with data. You are particularly adept at understanding the interactions and dependencies between these functions and when to employ which practices

  • You understand how to manage in an environment where the supply of time is far less than the demands placed on it in a way that protects your team from burnout while delivering true value to the business

  • You are passionate about delivering actionable insights to improve the business and excel at partnering with non-technical teams as well as technical

  • You utilize strong judgment and effective entrepreneurship in identifying and framing opportunities in greenfield areas

  • You utilize strong people leadership skills to gain the trust of your team so you can effectively lead and develop them

  • You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a wide variety of technical, business, and creative stakeholders
