Summary of Key Responsibilities: Interprets protocols from a financial perspective; develops clinical trial budgets, negotiates pricing, and presents budget proposals to executive management. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Creating new budgets in Excel based upon Sarah Cannon cost and charge information, analyzing each clinical trial protocol in order to provide a detailed counteroffer to the Sponsor's initial budget while meeting established metrics surrounding each budget

  • Negotiating budgets with Sponsors/CROs in order to result in a favorable overall result for Sarah Cannon, while establishing and maintaining business relationships for future negotiations

  • Maintaining and effectively communicating to executive management statuses for all assigned budgets

  • Proactively communicating and soliciting input from clinical staff, management, Tennessee Oncology and others in order to receive timely clarification on protocol specifics, standard of care, billable items and other nuances affecting the budget

  • Attending protocol and budget review meetings and other pertinent meetings to solicit and share information

  • Preparing and presenting all assigned budgets to the Chief Medical Officer

  • Collaborating with Contract Analyst to generate final contract for execution

  • Utilizing the clinical trial management system in order to assist with both historical and new study budget input

  • Serving as Site Liaison and point of contact for budget and contract issues for designated Strategic Sites

  • Maintaining current and complete status of budget creation and negotiation in Salesforce system

  • Using reports from Salesforce to help manage follow-up priorities and to meet established metrics for budget and contract completion

  • Reviewing and processing sponsor requests for assigned budget amendments and maintaining status in Salesforce

  • Interfacing with finance team to understand the requirements and ramifications of budget design on study accruals and receivables

  • Processing vendor agreements

  • Performing other duties and projects as assigned

 

Mandatory: 

  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement” 

  • During your employment with Sarah Cannon you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 1 year work experience utilizing basic financial principles, Excel, and other data management tools (e.g. CTMS)

  • At least 1 year of experience in budget negotiation

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and other complex formulas

  • Familiarity with clinical research and/or medical terminology

  • Functional knowledge of clinical trials, preferred

  • Analytical decision-making skills

  • Project management capabilities

  • Strong negotiation and professional communication skills
