Description

Position Summary:

As a SIU Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of a team of SIU personnel. This management position serves as an instrumental component of the day-to-day activities within the Special Investigative Unit. This position is responsible for management and accountability for internal staff and contingent workers conducting SIU investigations, which supports the broad scope of insurance operations, including claims, underwriting, vendor relations and agency. Through collaborative internal and external partnerships, the SIU Manager ensures that investigative services provided by the unit are scalable, conducted with the highest level of quality, and maximizes efforts to resist and deter insurance fraud.

Primary functions include the management of referrals from the claims department or from analytics, coordinating, directing and overseeing investigative activities of an SIU team to include support staff, analysts and investigators. Key accountabilities include leadership, support and coaching to ensure compliant investigations, technical knowledge, assignment and workload management.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and provide daily support and coaching.
  • Manage daily operations of the unit, assign, review and triage cases.
  • Maintain SIU Standards, reporting procedures, best practices and statutory compliance.
  • Supports the investigative and claims process by leading, guiding and directing investigations including complex cases.
  • Manage timely handling of cases, follow up and responses. Review and approve all closed cases, referrals to CID and other entities for appropriateness.
  • Assist in the identification of training opportunities to support fraud awareness and educate others on fraud indicators.
  • Attend and recommend industry webinars to the team that would improve investigative results.
  • Monitor internal reports for accuracy and or deficiencies in data analytics.
  • Interact with other managers, defense counsel and external customers.

 

 

 

  • Maintain and foster the best possible relationship with the general public, defense counsel, claims, legal, underwriting, and policyholders to ensure open lines of communication.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings with team members.
  • Monitor and maintain the fraud hotline and email communications in a database.
  • Overnight travel required approximately 20% of the time
  • All team members may be asked to assist in the event of a CAT event and additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.  

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required, AA or BA/BS degree preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching and developing employees
  • Efficiency in property & casualty claims process, laws and requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SIU practices, relevant state of Florida statutes, and DFS requirements

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management or team lead experience in a P&C insurance environment with preferred emphasis within SIU.
  • 5 or more years of claims P & C claims experience.
  • Insurance Industry Certifications (CIFI, FCLS, CFE, CPCU)
  • Knowledge of Xactimate property estimating programs
  • Technical Skills confirmed computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams.
