Our Location
Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Operations Analyst would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.
What We’re Looking For:
This position is responsible for providing analytical and process support services for energy program staff to ensure effective and successful program operations. The Operations Analyst will build relationships with energy program subject matter experts and work as part of a team of Analysts to generate reports & visualizations, ensure data quality, monitor process performance, promote continuous improvement, track metrics, and support forecasting efforts.
This individual reports to the Operations Analyst Manager.
This position is expected to report to the Portland office quarterly at a minimum, for all staff and other in-person meetings as scheduled.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and maintain engaging self-service visualizations, reports, and dashboards in Power BI, applying standards for data and report quality.
- Prepare and present data insights targeted to specific audiences, including leadership, business stakeholders, and technical subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their information needs/requirements and deliver solutions aligned to business goals.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to understand utility/value of new and existing data sets. Apply domain knowledge to interpret the data.
- Conduct quality review between data sources and systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Contribute to business systems bug/feature development prioritization by identifying issues and describing their potential risks/impacts for both business and technical audiences.
- Inform and educate program teams regarding best practices for uses of data and reporting available to them.
- Analyze and interpret historical project and program data to help guide program design, set goals, and develop more accurate budgets.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the business processes supporting each sector, and how they relate to overall organizational functioning.
- Identify potential process issues within the business and champion solutions for them from definition to execution.
- Document existing and new processes in a standard operating procedure format.
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to identify business problems and analyze for root causes.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-4 years of professional experience in data analysis, business analysis, systems analysis, operations analysis, or energy programs. Experience within the energy industry a plus.
- Applied experience using SQL, Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, and MS Office suite. Background in R, app development with R Shiny, or Power Automate is a plus.
- Comfortable working with and analyzing large data sets; interest and skill in data visualization, including producing compelling charts and graphs for varied audiences.
- Detail orientation and statistical, technical, analytical aptitudes.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement or process development practices. Lean experience is a plus.
- Ability to learn and master Energy Trust data systems and reporting tools.
- Must independently manage prioritization and delivery of multiple tasks, incorporating input from stakeholders and teammates.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be able to interact with a diverse and collaborative workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
- Successful experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
