TeamSnap is seeking a people-centric, technical Director of Engineering who will provide compelling people, process and technology partnership to our TeamSnap for Business teams. The candidate should be data-driven, customer-obsessed, and have a strong sense of accountability, working cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, and analytics teams to develop and launch high-quality products that meet business objectives and user needs.

What You'll Do:
  • Day-to-day management and leadership of engineers with varied backgrounds in terms of skills and experience levels, including 1:1 coaching/mentoring, career planning & development, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Participate in essential technical, design, and product discussions with cross-functional stakeholders to determine project deliverables and define the development roadmap
  • Take ownership of continuous improvement in the team's development process, coding, architecture, and overall performance while also ensuring alignment with the engineering department's overall standards and processes
  • Planning and executing strategies for completing projects. This includes facilitating agile ceremonies, defining and keeping a pulse on health metrics for your team(s), and reporting progress broadly.
  • Empowers engineers to progress the architecture and identify critical areas to pay down tech debt. Provides guidance and feedback on Technical Key Initiatives.
  • Develop and socialize resourcing plans that support the engineering leaders in making project resourcing and overall team scaling and evolution decisions
  • Ensure software engineers adhere to development standards and best practices
  • Rally the team to feel fired up and inspired! You’ll empower the team to succeed with code, tooling, processes, information, and help from others. You’ll also consistently and systemically help teammates do their best work.
  • Drive shared ownership of quality through testing, operational practices, and playbooks for owned scope areas while also contributing to engineering-wide goals, priorities, and improvements.

  • What Will Set You Up for Success:
  • 5+ years of experience managing software engineers of all levels while serving as a role model for an inclusive engineering culture
  • 5+ years of experience managing managers
  • A passion for Engineering Excellence
  • Data-driven mindset with proficiency in analytics tools and a track record of using insights to drive
  • Proficiency in a widely-used programming language
  • Experience working across cross-functional and end-user-facing teams to foster a culture of priority setting and urgency in alignment with organizational strategy.

  • Bonus Points:
  • Proficiency in at least one of our core languages (Typescript, Elixir, Go)
  • Experience working on B2B products

    Compensation
    We’re committed to equitable compensation for all TeamSnappers. The minimum starting point for this role is $225,250 inclusive of base and bonus, with comp updated based on multiple factors. Our comp is highly competitive in our space and we adjust overall comp based on relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

    TeamSnap is a fully remote company, so you need to be very comfortable working with people who aren’t in the same time zone as you. We are always expanding, but there is a small list of states we do not hire in at the moment, including Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and South Dakota and while we love all parts of the world, we can only hire permanent US residents at this time.
